Woodridge Village Hall Closed To Public Until Further Notice

WOODRIDGE, IL — The Woodridge Village Hall and public works buildings have been closed to the public until further notice amid ongoing caution about the new coronavirus. The closure went into effect Monday at 12 p.m., according to a news release from Woodridge Mayor Gina Cunningham. Cunningham said the village will still be reachable by phone and email and that the Woodridge Police Department will still take walk-in visits. The news comes just after a state of disaster was declared in DuPage County. Cunningham said the decision was made amid guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). She said, "As a local government, it is ourshared responsibility to try to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 by following the recommendations of federal and state public health officials." Cunningham added, "Woodridge is working closely with our sister agencies (e.g., fire district, park district, school districts, and library) to assist and support our intergovernmental operations as needed. Our first responders are prepared and ready for the task at hand, and their dedication to the community and expertise is reassuring as we combat the spread of COVID-19." Cunningham went on to encourage people who are not practicing social distancing to volunteer with Giving DuPage or West Suburban Community Pantry.
