WOODRIDGE, IL — Police in Woodridge are investigating an incident in which one boy shot another boy in the foot while handling a gun. The incident, which police are calling an "accidental shooting," unfolded early Wednesday in the 3300 block of 83rd Street, according to a Facebook post from the Woodridge Police Department. Police say the boy was showing the gun to four of his friends when it accidentally went off and a bullet hit his friend in the foot. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Woodridge police are currently investigating the incident, but they say there is no danger to the community. Police added a reminder that they "strongly encourage the proper storage of firearms."
