Freehold Twp School Reports Fifth COVID-19 Case In District

FREEHOLD, NJ - One new positive COVID-19 case has been reported in the Freehold Township School District, bringing the total cases at West Freehold Elementary School to three, with five cases in the district altogether. In a Wednesday letter to school parents, superintendent Neal Dickstein detailed the recent positive case, assuring that "the district is coordinating closely with public health officials and following CDC, state and local health department guidance in order to insure the health and safety of our community." The superintendent reports that relevant areas have since been sanitized and disinfected, with all close contacts notified of the potential exposure. Dickstein told the Asbury Park Press on Thursday evening that he has no plans of reversing the school's current hybrid model. According to the Press report, two individuals at other district schools, Catena Elementary School and Early Childhood Learning Center, had also reported infections earlier in the ear. On Sept. 17, West Freehold Elementary School had previously stated that two other students from the same family had tested positive just days before the school district switched from remote to hybrid learning.
