Join fellow Buckeye alumnus & fans by volunteering at the Westbury Community Garden. Join fellow Buckeye alumni & fans by volunteering at the Westbury Community Garden. We will be working alongside staff to tend to this beautiful garden during the month of service. If you RSVP by April 7, you will get a free OSU t-shirt on the day of the event. Water and granola bars will be provided during the event by the OSU Alumni Club of Houston, along with subs for lunch afterward. Hope to see you there! Volunteers under 18 years of age will need a parent or guardian's signature on the form. We will also have some paper copies on site on Work Day. The garden is located at 12581 Dunlap St., Houston, TX 77035. When you arrive, please park on Dunlap St. Then come to the pavilion (blue roof) to get signed in. We'll have a brief orientation and you'll meet your project leaders.Typical workday tasks include: Weeding of common areasOrchard maintenanceTurning and sifting compostButterfly Garden maintenancePocket Prairie maintenance and/or plantingTrash pickupOther garden maintenance tasks We always make these requests/suggestions for our volunteers' safety and comfort: Do not leave valuables in your car.Closed toe shoes are required. We recommend sunscreen and a hat for sun protection. If you have them, bring your own gardening gloves, and any favorite hand tools.There is a port-a-potty on site.Work days still happen under a light rain or drizzle.
