Voices from around the world reflect on their mothers in a sound-rich audio piece at this Mother's Day listening event.
Mothers can be controversial. They can be wonderful. They can be terrible. They can be both wonderful and terrible in turns.
But whatever they are, whatever yours was and is, mothers are universal. Everyone begins with a mother, even if she isn’t around later.
The Mother Mine Project collected stories from 75 people around the world about these figures who literally made us and turned these recordings into sound-rich audio snapshots.
On this Mother's Day join us at The Root to hear a selection of these stories and to reflect on who our mothers are and how they've shaped us.
The Root will have tea, coffee, and refreshments available for purchase. Feel free to bring handwork or drawing materials to occupy your hands while listening.
*We recommend that children under 13 do not attend as there is some swearing and mentioning of adult topics.
Katie Semro is the audio creator behind Mother Mine, and will host this event.
