Join us on Saturday, April 2 for Sports Basement's Gravel Grind, led by our very own Matt "Gravel Guy" Gough!
We'll be leaving from our Berkeley store around 9am, ticking off around 19 miles of riding and 2,200 feet of climbing. It begins with a spin up Tunnel Road to get to Grizzly Peak Boulevard. From there you will head north to the Redwood Valley Railway where you will hop on dirt and ride down to Wildcat Canyon Road before descending Spruce St. on the way back to Sports Basement. Join us! It'll be fuuuun. You'll be fiiiine. Here's the breakdown:
WHEN: SATURDAY, APRIL 2, 9AM-11AMWHERE: SPORTS BASEMENT BERKELEYDISTANCE: 19.3 MILESELEVATION GAIN: 2,200 FT.
You can see the whole route here! We'll be meeting at the front of Sports Basement Berkeley at 8:45am. Please bring everything you need with you as the store will not be open until we return.
Things to keep in mind
You'll want proper gravel tires for this ride, so like 32mm minimum width and some knobby tires tread. There are some short steep sections you would not get traction on with road tires, and in the same vein some of the descents would be rough.
