A plant walk to get to know some of the plants and trees in our beautiful city! We'll end our walk with a short meditation.
Join me for a plant walk seeing what is unfurling in the city. We’ll stay close to the city center and enjoy the beauty of Grant Park. There’s so much to see right in our neighborhood! We’ll meet at the fountain on Cherokee Avenue at 10am and walk into the park from there. We’ll end our time together with a short meditation to connect with the natural world.
Plant walks are a time to get out into nature and learn about the plants around you. From the trees to the tiny plants growing amongst the grass, there’s a whole plethora of the natural world waiting to be noticed. Plant walks allow time for identification, using guides and shared knowledge. It’s a place to discuss traditional remedies using the plants we see.
I like to invite a time of silent meditation into the plant walk experience. Nature is always speaking to us if only we slow down and tune in.
Feel free to bring a towel, blanket, or anything to sit on. You may want a notebook and pen to take down notes and a camera (or your phone) to photograph what we see. Depending on the weather you may also want a hat, some sunscreen, and definitely some water. Masks are requested as we may need to get close together to see a plant.
