Description
IN-PERSON EVENT: This session will help startup founders build a captivating pitch that communicates their business solution's potential. THIS WILL BE AN IN-PERSON EVENT HELD AT ASCENDER.***Proof of vaccination is required to attend the event. Masks are strongly encouraged.*** Ask any startup founder how they feel about pitching their business, and you'll immediately see them roll their eyes. Unfortunately, pitching is a necessary evil in entrepreneurship and isn't going anywhere. Instead of complaining about (or hyperventilating over) pitching, join us for an interactive presentation with Ascender's Executive Director, Nadyli Nuñez, to understand the different components of an effective pitch presentation and how it changes based on who it is for. Nadyli has directly evaluated over 1000 products and business ideas from around the globe related to technology, smart cities, the future of work, education, health, society, and retail. Then, one week later on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, we're hosting a NOT-A-PITCH pitch event, where you can put what you learned into practice and get real feedback in a stress-free, no-stakes setting. Register to practice your pitch. Whether you're working on a pitch to attract investors, recruit team members, or convert customers, this session is for you. At the end of this FREE 1-hour session, early-stage and growing startup founders will walk away with: An understanding of how to structure a pitch based on their product's or service's unique characteristics Digital (free) tools to build a pitch deck that shows rather than tellsStorytelling skills to connect with different audiences and communicate a business solution's potential Featuring: Nadyli Nuñez is the executive director of Ascender, a hub that helps entrepreneurs start and build their companies through education, mentorship, and coworking community. She also serves on the advisory boards for SXSW Pitch and Inventures Startup Pitch, which identify promising startups worldwide and connects them to experts, talent, and investors. Additionally, Nadyli is on the Community Forge Advisory Board, an organization building an equitable economy for Wilkinsburg and Greater Pittsburgh through entrepreneurship. Before her time at Ascender, Nadyli was the director of UpPrize BNY Mellon Social Innovation Challenge, a platform attracting solutions improving nonprofit operations and underserved communities. She also spent time at Capital BlueCross and Reed Smith LLP. Nadyli came to Pittsburgh to graduate from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in Decision Science, grounded in psychology, economics, and management science. She also received a minor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. In 2017, The Pittsburgh Business Times recognized her as one of Pittsburgh’s “30 under 30”.
