Palm Sunday Service, April 10 at 10:30 am (in-person and virtual). Palm Sunday commemorates the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem and begins the series of observances focusing on the events of Holy Week. That being said, Palm Sunday is a kind of paradoxical celebration. After Jesus’ triumphal entry, He was rejected, betrayed and crucified, and yet, God’s love persists throughout this paradoxical Holy Week journey. Virtual doors open at 10:15 am, service starts at 10:30 am. https://www.youtube.com/saintmatthewsumc/live or www.saint-matthews.org Maundy Thursday Taizé Service, April 14 at 7:00 pm (in-person and virtual). Maundy Thursday commemorates when Jesus washed His disciples’ feet and ate with them the night before He died on the Cross to forgive all our sins. The music of Taizé is a repetitive singing of prayer chants that focus on simple phrases, often from Scripture, creating a meditative prayer experience. Virtual doors open at 6:45 pm, service starts at 7:00 pm. https://www.youtube.com/saintmatthewsumc/live or www.saint-matthews.org Good Friday Service of Hymn Sing, April 15 at 7:00 pm (in-person and virtual). On Good Friday we reflect on how desperate we would be without Jesus’ presence. We also remember the people who have to live “without” His presence; not by choice, but because of various social injustices like discrimination, prejudice, oppression, and so on. At the same time, we find hope in Jesus’ resurrection and look forward to receiving the joy of Easter together. Virtual doors open at 6:45 pm, service starts at 7:00 pm. https://www.youtube.com/saintmatthewsumc/live or www.saint-matthews.org Easter Sunrise Service, April 17 at 5:45 am (in-person only). We gather early in the morning to worship our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Where there appeared to be no hope, there is now hope. Where there was death, there is now new life. 5:45 am, 435 Central St, Acton (outside at the back of the church). Easter Sunday Service, April 17 at 10:30 am (in-person and virtual). We celebrate Easter in remembrance of Jesus, who came back to life just three days after dying on the cross. For Christians, Easter Sunday is a very joyous symbol of rebirth and of hope. Through Jesus’ Resurrection, God reminds us that nothing, not even death, can separate us from God's unconditional and steadfast love for us. God loves you. So do we. And there’s nothing you can do about it! Virtual doors open at 10:15 am, service starts at 10:30 am. https://www.youtube.com/saintmatthewsumc/live or www.saint-matthews.org
