FALLS CHURCH, VA — On Take a Walk in the Park Day on March 30, the public will get a chance to go on free guided tours of parks in the City of Falls Church.
The City of Falls Church Recreation and Parks team will guide the tours, helping the public learn about natural habitats and wildlife in the city.
At Cherry Hill Park on Park Avenue, events will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30. Participants will get to take a tour of the farmhouse for free and the corn grinding in the barn for $1.
Free tours of Howard E. Herman Park at 601 W. Broad St. will be offered on March 30. The public should meet at the Broad St. entrance to the park for the tours at 2:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. For the 3 p.m. tour, the public should meet at the Oak St. entrance to the park.
At Crossman Park at 535 N. Van Buren St., tours at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. will begin at the Van Buren St. entrance. At 3 p.m., regional master naturalist Amy Crumpton will be providing a tour. For the 4:30 p.m. tour, the public should meet at the 100 Gresham Place entrance to Crossman Park.
Take a Walk in the Park Day, celebrated annually on March 30, was founded to reconnect people with Mother Nature. According to new research, people who regularly visit parks are reported to have better mental and physical health.
