Description

WHEATON, IL — The state may have moved into Phase 4 of Gov. J.B. Pritzker's Restore Illinois plan, but the Wheaton Park District is waiting on further guidance before reopening playgrounds. The park district made the announcement on Thursday via Facebook. The announcement reads, "Until further direction comes from the State of Illinois, playgrounds will remain closed. Please do not allow your children to use playgrounds." The park district will reassess opening playgrounds back up once more details are available regarding Phase 4 and playground reopenings. The announcement brought a chorus of protest from Facebook readers, one of whom commented, "unbelievable." Other readers brought up nearby suburbs whose playgrounds reopened. One reader commented, "If groups of 100 can get together to protest, my kids should be allowed to play at the park." Patch will keep you updated as more developments on playground reopenings in Wheaton arise.
