Lawrence Township Gets $80,000 For Craven Lane Project

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Township has received a grant from New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) for safety improvements on Craven Lane. Lawrence Township has got $80,000 from the NJDOT's Transportation Trust Fund for the Craven Lane Safety Improvement Project. The funds are provided through the state's Local Aid and Infrastructure Fund program. The announcement was made by Municipal Manager Kevin Nerwinski, who shared the news with residents on Facebook. The funds will go towards installing a flashing beacon at the Johnson Trolley Line intersection with Craven Lane, replacing the deteriorating sidewalk at the George Street-Craven Lane intersection, a new sidewalk where needed, accessible curb ramps and high visibility crosswalks. According to Municipal officers, the project will improve walking and biking routes to Lawrenceville Elementary School between the post office and Johnson Trolley Line. The Transportation Trust Fund provides funding for communities throughout the state to advance transportation projects without burdening local taxpayers. The Township recently presented its $52.7 million budget for 2022. Residents will see a tax increase of around 3 cents.
