PROVIDENCE, RI — New England Patriots Owner Robert Kraft donated $40,000 in grants to two Rhode Island charities. Kraft joined Gov. Dan McKee in a news conference Tuesday to present the two $20,000 checks to Man Up, Inc. and Youth in Action. McKee said the funds were made possible by the Rhode Island charity license plate program. "We commit that at least double what comes in comes back for nonprofits in the state of Rhode Island," Kraft said. "I want people to take pride in these plates, to let them know that they're doing good for their own state at the same time." For more than a decade, Patriots fans in Rhode Island could show off their fandom with team themed license plates. Last fall, Kraft and the New England Patriots Foundation partnered with the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles. They worked together to design a new license plate design, celebrating the Patriots' six Super Bowl championships. "To have a partnership here with the Patriots is certainly special for all of us today," McKee said.
