Description

WARRENVILLE, IL — Warrenville city officials voted Monday to allow cannabis sales in the city. The council voted 5 to 3 in favor of the measure, according to Daily Herald. The news comes after Governor J.B. Pritzker signed a law making adult use cannabis legal for recreational consumption and sale as of Jan. 1. Monday's vote will allow one recreational cannabis dispensary store to open and sell cannabis products in Warrenville. The city will enforce a 3 percent sales tax on cannabis. Warrenville's decision to opt in to cannabis sales comes on the heels of nearby Naperville, Lisle, and Wheaton choosing to opt out of cannabis sales and businesses within their limits. Adult residents who live in these municipalities will still be able to travel to Warrenville and Aurora to purchase cannabis for consumption in their homes. More via Daily Herald
