BEVERLY HILLS, CA — A Post Malone fan with autism got a memorable "Congratulations" for his 21st birthday in Beverly Hills.
Andrew Schumacher dined with his brother, mother and friends at the sushi restaurant Matsuhisa on March 11 to mark his birthday, when they realized a mega rap-pop star Post Malone was sitting next to them.
The rapper received a bottle of sake from people at a different table. Before heading back to his seat, the nine-time Grammy nominee stopped by Schumacher's table, KTTV reported.
Schumacher's mother, Nicole, told the TV station Post Malone, who's real name is Austin Richard Post, was "so incredibly kind and patient" with her son.
"Andrew has a hard time speaking and Austin was so natural and sweet with him," she said.
Video posted on Nicole's Instagram page showed the rapper greet his fan and give his mother a big hug.
"What kind of beer you get? That's a tough choice," Post Malone said. "Not for me but…"
Nicole said her son knows all of Post's songs. He thanked Andrew for being a fan, and shook his hand.
"Thank you for listening, man," Post said. "That's so sweet."
Schumacher, who drank his first beer that night, also got some free birthday advice from the rapper.
"Have fun dude, but not too much fun," Post Malone said.
Post has notched international hits such as "Rockstar," "Sunflower," "Psycho," "Better Now," and "Wow."
He's received Grammy nominations including record of the year, album of the year, and song of the year.
Nicole Schumacher is president and founder of the nonprofit organization Love, Andrew. The Canton, Ohio, based organization is dedicated to helping kids with autism.
