Woods Excavating, LLC., a quickly growing construction company in southern Maine, is currently seeking a diesel / heavy equipment mechanic to add to our team. This job consists of assisting with preventive maintenance, diagnosing problems and general repair for a fleet of dump trucks, excavators, loaders, mining equipment, and other related equipment. You will work in the shop under supervision of the shop supervisor as well as some occasional field repairs. Applicants must be mechanically inclined and have some experience with diesel truck and heavy equipment repairs. You must be self-motivated, a quick learner, and be able to work in a team environment as well as independently when needed. This job has ample room for growth, and we are looking for someone who wants to succeed and grow along with the company! Heavy Equipment Mechanic Duties and Responsibilities ● Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance ● Attention to detail is a must along with the ability to identify future problems and remedy before breakdown ● Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and related ● Determine what parts and tools are necessary to make repairs when in the field ● Keep detailed records of repairs and preventative maintenance ● Maintain a clean and safe work area ● Work well as a team and independently ● Be able to lift heavy objects 50lbs frequently, and 100lbs occasionally ● Be able to operate heavy machinery and trucks in a safe manner ● Keep records of parts used for re-order ● Report to and complete tasks assigned by shop supervisor ● Follow all safety rules and regulations associated with job duties Heavy Equipment Mechanic Requirements and Qualifications ● High school diploma or GED certificate ● Post-secondary certificate or degree in related field OR training as a mechanic ● 2-4 years of experience with automotive / diesel repair (or equivalent training) ● Welding experience or a willingness to learn ● Manual dexterity ● Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (CDL class A or B a plus) ● Maine state inspection license is a plus Benefits and Compensation ● Competitive pay based on experience ● Vacation time and paid holidays ● Yearly boot allowance ● Partially paid health insurance, fully paid vision, and additional supplemental plans available ● 5-day work week ● IRA employer match
