WHEATON, IL — The city of Wheaton warned drivers to avoid flooded roads Sunday as heavy rains continued throughout the weekend. According to a post on Facebook, Wheaton has already recorded seven inches of rainfall since Thursday. Those numbers were set to increase amid a flood warning from that National Weather Service that remained in effect until 10:30 p.m. City officials wrote that the public works department is working to respond to reports of flooding. As of 7:30 p.m., the DuPage County and Wheaton Sanitary District's flood water operations were at maximum capacity. Drivers were advised not to drive down flooded roads.
