Start with a state full of low IQ people aka red states. Large groups of low IQ people leads directly to low education levels. Lots of people with low education levels leads directly to low paying blue collar jobs. Lots of people with low paying jobs leads directly to high poverty levels. High poverty levels leads directly to poor nutrition diets, high drug use, and high crime rates. Poor nutrition leads to more low IQ people. High crime rates leads to high incarceration rates High incarceration rates leads to even more families in poverty. And all of the above leads directly to political candidates who claim to be "tough on crime" being elected. And the "tough on crime" party believes ever longer jail sentences that have never worked are still the way. And the "tough on crime" party has done nothing to improve the situation in even a minor way. And that is why red states are poor, stupid, and have high crime. Red states are drowning in poverty and crime which is why they see the world so differently than people in blue states that haven't solved these problems completely but have done a far better job in reducing these problems to where people aren't as focused on them.
