Details Revealed, Grief As Warren Hills High School Student Dies

NEW JERSEY – A community continues to grieve as more details were revealed Thursday in the death of a New Jersey high school student. Warren Hills Superintendent of Schools Superintendent Earl Clymer announced that Jake Stria died Wednesday following a crash on Franklin Road in Washington Township. Stria, a senior at the school, passed away due to complications from injuries, according to police. Evidence indicated that the death was a suicide, Lehigh County Coroner Eric Minnich told Lehigh Valley Live. He did not reveal a motive, nor did he tell the publication whether Stria was wearing a seat belt. Clymer said 17 grief counselors are offering support at the school, saying he would like to "take this opportunity to thank the Warren Hills community for their outpouring of support during this very difficult time. "Our school community has suffered a tragic loss and the well wishes from our community are integral to the healing process," he said. The counselors were expected to return on Friday. "Many in our community may feel upset and have questions about Jake's death," he said. "It is important for our students to understand that, in times like this, grieving is a process, so it is okay to have many different feelings, including, but not limited to sadness, anger, guilt and disbelief. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family: "On February 19th, 2020 our best friend was in a serious car accident and unfortunately passed away. We would like to start this fund to help Jake's dad and sister out during this difficult time. Please donate whatever you can...." Tributes were also pouring in. This is a developing story.
