Are you passionate about climate and the environment? Do you enjoy putting yourself out there and building strong connections with others? Do you want to inspire change through political action? If so, you may be the perfect fit for VPIRG’s Keep Vermont Cool Street Team Captain role! This is a part time, temporary position, starting in early/mid-April and ending in October for up to 16 hours per week. The position pays $15 per hour and is to be conducted primarily in person, with some remote work possible. Some weekend and evening hours expected. Access to a working vehicle will be essential, as well as high-speed internet connection if choosing to work remotely. A work laptop will be provided as well as any necessary training. Responsibilities: - Host and participate in weekly in-person and virtual events (farmer’s markets, parades, tabling sessions, etc.) and assist with the preparation and execution of other relevant VPIRG events - Collaborate with VPIRG’s summer canvass to identify and call/meet with potential campaign activists to deepen engagement - Apply pressure to local candidates by attending candidate forums and debates to ensure climate commitments will be met - Complete data entry from clipboarding sessions and events - Generate social media content on an ongoing basis - Provide other support for Keep Vermont Cool campaign as needed Qualifications: - Strong interest in organizing, elections, and climate - Confident and persuasive communicator - Energetic self-starter - Flexible and adaptable - Able to travel throughout the state as needed (VPIRG will reimburse for mileage, but cannot provide a vehicle) - Aligned with VPIRG's mission and values Applications due by 5 pm on Thursday, March 31st.
