Description
Due
to the Covid-19 outbreak, the First Congregational Church of Western
Springs made the difficult decision to cancel its Annual Spring Rummage
Sale, which was scheduled for the end of April. This sale has been a
long-held, beloved outreach tradition of the church and will be sorely
missed by hundreds of people who donate to, and volunteer and shop at
the sale.
What's
more, many non-profit organizations and social service agencies that
have come to rely on shared profits from the sale will be missing out as
well. That is why First Congo has launched a fundraiser to help make up
some of the money lost from cancelling the sale. (The spring and fall
rummage sales typically each net around $30,000, and all sale profits
support numerous charitable organizations close to home and around the
globe.)So,
while faithful rummage volunteers and shoppers can't come together
physically, we can come together still to help those organizations who
need help now more than ever. Donations of any amount will be gratefully
accepted and are fully tax deductible. There are three ways to give:1. Donate online at wscongo.org/give.2. Mail a check, payable to Woman's Society, to First Congregational Church, 1106 Chestnut St., Western Springs, IL 60558, Attn: Rummage Fund3. Text your donation to 73256, and write, “wscongo Rummage $(donation amt)” in the message line.Assuming
it's healthy to do so, First Congo looks forward to seeing friends old
and new at its fall rummage sale on October 27-28. Thank you in advance
for helping us help those in need. We're all in this together.
