Nurturing, reliable persons needed to support new moms at home. We "mother the mother" meaning we do whatever is needed to support the mom so she can heal and rest. Duties include breastfeeding support, newborn care and instruction, sibling care, laundry for the family, light housework, meal preparation and clean-up. A doula is like a Fairy Godmother. It is a privilege to help a growing family adjust during this special time. Clients contract in advance. For example you will know her due date and how many hours per day and how many days you will be assisting her. Four hours is the minimum. The assignments change often. Please keep in mind there will be times you will not be working because of the nature of due dates. Many times while you are waiting for your precontracted client there will be opportunities to help families who need help ASAP. Overnight shifts are available as well. You'll help with breastfeeding (if needed) and caring for the newborn. Newborn care includes feeding, burping, changing, holding and settling the baby throughout the night. 8 hours is the minimum shift. A car is necessary. Mileage reimbursement will be given.
