A Sicilian wine and food pairing class
There’s an expression in Sicilian: me cumpari. It’s a phrase used to describe a close, like-family friend. The kind of friend who you can show up to their house –unannounced– and be greeted with laughter and open arms, a bottle of local wine and a plate of home-made pasta. This illustration of friendship encapsulates the hospitality of Sicily. Our class looks at Sicilian wine and food culture through the lens of me cumpari, led by sommelier Brittany Galbraith and Nick Wilson, the general manager of our Stowe shop, whose childhood memories were formed around his Sicilian family’s dinner table. In this class, you will get to know classic regional pairings featuring fresh pasta from our kitchen, discover the major regions of the island, and learn about Sicily’s unique history and culture.
In this class, you will:
Learn how to create transportive wine and food experiences at homeExplore what makes Sicily a unique wine and food regionTaste a flight of Sicilian wines with food pairings inspired by family recipes and meals enjoyed at winemakers’ tables, including house-made pasta
