Get 'Down & Derby' with MIRA - Kentucky Derby Style! Ladies grab your hats, gents grab your bow ties! It's time for 'the most exciting two minutes in sports' as we sip mint juleps (or your beverage of choice) and cheer on our favorite horse and jockey combo at the MIRA Happy Hour and RPAC Fundraiser, featuring our first-ever Stick Horse Derby race! Vote with cash to determine the $100 winners of the following contests: Best derby hatBest dressed jockey/horse comboYour $10 ticket gets you 2 drink tickets, appetizers and 10 complimentary tickets for the RPAC auction. Spouses and guests are invited to attend as well! All money raised supports your local RPAC. What is a 'Stick Horse Derby' anyways?? A stick horse derby is where a person or group purchases a stick horse for a $100 contribution to RPAC (actual stick horse will then be provided), chooses a theme and costume for the rider and horse and dresses accordingly for the event, and then 'runs for the roses' (no actual running involved, don't worry!) in a fast, fun 'derby race' against a hand full of other racers for a chance to make it to the winners circle. Additional details: Each horse purchased must have a jockey to participate in the race.Horse purchase may be split between multiple people as long as there is 1 jockey.Each group of horses will run (1) heat and the winners of these heats will participate in the final race, competing for the Derby trophy and $100 grand prize.Winner for best dressed horse/jockey combo wins $100 prize.See image below for theme examples.
