Zachys Announces Port Chester Store Opening Date

PORT CHESTER, NY — Zachys will be opening its much-anticipated new location in Port Chester on March 22. After 78 years in Scarsdale, Zachys announced in May of last year the store would be moving to a new location in Port Chester, in the former Strauss Paper headquarters. The move is something of a bittersweet moment for a global company with local roots. "A family-owned, 3rd generation-owned company like ours is loyal to its roots, so while we are moving a few miles to the northeast of both our retail and corporate offices, we couldn't imagine leaving our beloved Westchester County," Zachys President Jeff Zacharia said. The new 70,000-square-foot facility is located on Midland Ave. The new location will allow all of the company's brick-and-mortar, e-commerce, auction and storage businesses to be located under one roof for the first time. Zachys said the consolidation will let it streamline its operations, thus allowing the company to ship up to 400 more packages per day. The move is expected to ultimately make the family-owned business the largest wine-shipping facility in the Northeast. The 3,500-square-foot retail area will allow Zachys to display more of the 7000 wine and spirits products stored at the location. Zachys Wine & Liquor started as a local retailer in Scarsdale in 1944 and has since expanded into a 130-employee company, with operations in New York, Washington, D.C., London andHong Kong. Zachys Wine Auctions is one of the largest wine auction companies globally, with sales of over $85 million in 2020. Zachys Retail was the first U.S. wine and spirits retailer to sell Bordeaux Futures in the 1970s, to launch the first retail website in the late 1990s and to serve clients across the U.S. through its e-commerce business, according to the company. Zachys Wine & Liquor is now located at 30-A Midland Ave. in Port Chester.
