WAYLAND, MA — Here's what's happening at the Wayland Free Library the week of Feb. 28. ADULT SERVICES Being Chinese in Wayland: Telling Your Story Wherever you're from (including the United States), we invite you to a Zoom gathering to share your experience of living as a Chinese person in Wayland. Wednesday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. Boston Marathon: History by the Mile Freelance journalist, photographer, and 23-time Marathon runner Paul Clerici takes us throughthe colorful, 26.2-mile journey mile by mile, town by town, story by story from his new book.We'll hear about the very beginnings of the race in Ashland; the various start and finish lines; theyear a train cut through the race in Framingham; the Scream Tunnel of women at WellesleyCollege; and much more. Monday,March 28 at 7 p.m. Flooding of the Sudbury River Join us for an informative panel discussion about the Sudbury River and the episodic flooding ofour wetlands, streets, and neighborhoods by this slow-flowing yet powerful river. Panelists areAlison Field-Juma of OARS, a non-profit to benefit our local rivers; Brian Donahue, AssociateProfessor of American Environmental Studies at Brandeis U.; and Tom Sciacca, longtime andpassionate advocate for the wetlands and waterways of Wayland. Monday,April 4 at 7 p.m. Great Presenters: Medical Simulation—The Present and Future of Medical Education Over the last 20 years, medical simulation has become a standard component of medical training.Using a wide array of resources, including technologically-advanced robots, medicalprofessionals can now learn and practice without risks to themselves or their patients. Explorethis exciting and innovative field with Wayland native Dr. Andrew Eyre, emergency physician atBrigham and Women's Hospital and Medical Director for the hospital's STRATUS Center forMedical Simulation. Tuesday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. New Round of ESOL Discussion Groups There are two groups, each meeting twice a month April-June, one on Tuesdays 1-2 p.m., theother on Fridays 9-10 a.m. They are best for intermediate or advanced speakers and are limitedto 10 per group. Students will read a short story or article in class, then talk about it. It's a greatway to improve your English and maybe make some new friends. Contact [email protected] sign up.
