RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — A 72-year-old man is in intensive care after being stabbed multiple times at the Coto De Caza guardhouse Wednesday. Emergency responders raced to the scene of in Rancho Santa Margarita Wednesday afternoon, Orange County Sheriff's Department tells Patch. At approximately 11:45 a.m., deputies responded to the gated community of Coto De Caza at Antonio Parkway and Coto de Caza Drive to find a man, 72, outside of the guard gate. The victim suffered "front and back stab wounds," OCSD Sgt. Dennis Breckner said. Orange County Fire Authority medics took the victim to the hospital where he was rushed into surgery.. The victim is currently in the ICU in stable condition, according to authorities. He was alert and talking at the scene, Patch was told. A suspect was identified and has been charged with attempted murder. It is not known if a weapon was found at the scene. His name has not yet been released. The relationship between the suspect and victim is unknown at this time, according to Breckner. No additional information was available as of this report, and an investigation is underway.
