RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — A crash at the entrance of Coto De Caza, a small, upscale community in Orange County, led to one arrest and a 72-year-old man hospitalized.
Luis Fabian Centeno, 29, has been charged on suspicion of attempted murder, Orange County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Dennis Breckner said. During the attack, Centeno stabbed the victim 11 times, he said.
Centeno listed his occupation as security, according to jail records. He is being held on $500,000 bail.
Investigators are not releasing details about what may have prompted the attack, or if the two had a history of run-ins. They are waiting to take a statement from the victim, who is intubated but is expected to survive, Breckner said.
The stabbing victim, whose name was withheld, underwent surgery Wednesday and was transferred to the ICU, Breckner said.
His vital signs were listed as stable.
