Brookline Public Schools' FY2023 Budget Request Now $1.6M Less

BROOKLINE, MA — The Public Schools Of Brookline has decreased its initial budget request by approximately $1.6 million in an attempt to close the budget gap between the district and the town, said Superintendent Linus Guillory in an update Friday. The initial Local Education Appropriation (LEA) request, presented in January, came out to $130,619, 874. For the past two months, district and school leaders have been working to identify and realize cost efficiencies before the request is finalized. As of Friday, the requested amount is now $128,948,883, making the budget gap between the district and the town $4.1 million. "We will continue to work with our Town partners in seeking all available channels, sources, and options in developing a budget that is in alignment with the community's expectations and core values," said Guillory in a statement.
