NORWALK, CT — A former Norwalk police officer accused of using his cop status to coerce young women into exchanging phone numbers with him has been banned from working for any Connecticut law enforcement agency, The Norwalk Hour reported. In its March 10 meeting, the Police Officer Standards and Training Council voted to revoke the certification of Taranjit Singh, the newspaper reported. In a memo, state officials wrote that Singh had "abused his power as a police officer" by coercing women "under the direct and implied threat of law enforcement actions," according to The Norwalk Hour. Singh graduated from the Milford Police Recruit Academy in March 2014, after which he began his field training in Norwalk. Read more from The Norwalk Hour.
