EAST HAVEN, CT — East Haven Fire Department Chief Matt Marcarelli announced, and welcomed, the town's newest firefighter/paramedic Davon Johnson. Johnson is already a licensed and practicing paramedic and has successfully completed the Connecticut Fire Academy Recruit Training Program. A probationary firefighter/paramedic for East Haven, he begins work March 28. Davon grew up in Bridgeport began his career at American Medical Response went onto complete paramedic school, Marcarelli said. He was then hired by the University of Connecticut as a firefighter/paramedic and attended the Connecticut Fire Academy. Marcarelli said Johnson was hired by the West Shore Fire District. "But he was interested in making the move to East Haven after learning all the department had to offer." "We were happy to oblige because he is a turn-key firefighter," Marcarelli said.
