NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans today announced organizational changes at the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center (JJIC), bringing the agency under the oversight of the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. Director of Public Safety, Chief John Thomas, will help oversee a re-evaluation of the agency, with a specific focus on their public safety function.
The Mayor's Office of Youth and Families as well as the Office of Criminal Justice Coordination will continue to play support roles for the JJIC to ensure our youth are served holistically.
Current Supt. Dichelle Williams has been named acting Interim Director for the JJIC.
There are currently several open positions at the agency. Individuals interested in fulfilling this core public safety function with a passion for serving our city's youth are encouraged to apply.
