Press release from the City of Louisville: March 18, 2022 Louisville – During the Metro Council meeting on March 17, Metro Council appointed Angela Bowens as the new District 1 Councilwoman. After the vote, Councilwoman Bowens took the Oath of Office and then participated in her first Council meeting. Councilwoman Bowens will serve the remainder of former Councilwoman Jessica Green's term. "Thank you to my new Council members for your support," said Councilwoman Bowens (D-1). "I hope I can do everything that you need me to do. And to Jessica Green, I will do my best to continue what you've done here. You have some big shoes to fill, but I am so excited and honored to represent District 1. From the bottom of my heart, thank you." The Jefferson County Attorney's Office reviewed all the applications, and 10 qualified candidates were invited to be interviewed. Eight candidates attended the interview on Monday during a Special Committee of the Whole meeting, and one candidate withdrew as of Thursday morning. Of the seven remaining applicants, Councilwoman Bowens received 17 votes during the Council meeting Thursday night. "We're very happy to have Councilwoman Bowens join us on Metro Council," said President David James (D-6). "She is full of humility and determination, and I believe she'll do great work for District 1 over the next nine months." Councilwoman Bowens is a Democrat, and she has lived in District 1 for the last 14 years. According to her resume, Councilwoman Bowens has been an Accounts Receivable Manager with Uspiritus since June 2015. The councilwoman has extensive experience in project management and strategic planning.
