NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt. ARRESTS DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE Eugeniu Vascan, of the 500 block of Tuscany Drive, Algonquin, is accused of driving under the influence, a lane violation, no insurance, and was arrested at 2:14 a.m. March 12, at Dundee and Waukegan roads. They were released after posting $1,000 bond and were assigned a court date of April 26. SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE Jada Davis, of the 1200 block of Pitner Avenue, Evanston, is accused of having a suspended driver's license, one headlight, one registration light, and was arrested at 11:17 p.m. March 14, at Willow and Waukegan roads. They were released after posting a $2,500 bond and were assigned a court date of April 26. Cameron Carlsen, of the 2800 block of Dundee Road, Northbrook, is accused of driving with a suspended license, no insurance, no rear registration light, speeding, cracked windshield, and was arrested at 1:25 a.m. March 16, at Skokie Boulevard and Lake Cook Road. They were released after posting a $2,500 bond and were assigned a court date of April 26. SUSPENDED REGISTRATION Sebastian Hernandez, of the 4100 block of W. Cermak, Chicago, is accused of having a suspended registration, speeding, and was arrested at 10:40 p.m. March 16, at Willow and Shermer roads. Henrnandez was released after posting a $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of April 25. ORDER OF PROTECTION David T. Wacht, of Des Plaines, is accused of violating an order of protection in Northbrook, and was arrested at 8:29 a.m. March 17. A decision on bond was pending at the time of the report. LAST WEEK: Man Washing Socks In P.F. Chang's Sink Refuses To Leave INCIDENTS BURGLARY A resident of the 2500 block of Burgandy Lane reported at 3:19 p.m. March 11, a man knocked on her door claiming to be from the water department. The man was wearing a black jacket, a yellow reflective vest, a black neck gator, and light colored gym shoes. He was carrying a radio and showed an unknown badge. The man convinced the complainant to let him check the water pressure inside the residence. While in the kitchen, the complainant saw three unknown people in her residence. She yelled at all of them and they left the area in a white SUV. The complainant then discovered multiple items missing from her residence. RETAIL THEFTA Northbrook resident is accused of retail theft, criminal trespass, and was cited at 7:27 a.m. March 12, at Sunset Foods, 1100 block of Church Street. Police said the person concealed a bottle of alcohol and left the store. They had recently been charged with trespassing due to multiple previous offenses. They were issued two local ordinance violations and left the scene. A court date of May 3 was assigned. SUSPICIOUS PERSON A resident in the 1100 block of Landwehr Road called police at 2:18 p.m. March 12, to report that doorbell surveillance camera had captured video of an unknown man approaching her front door. The subject is described as 30-40 years old, short hair or balding, wearing a light colored jacket, t-shirt, and pants. The man appeared to be unsteady on his feet as he approached, then left the residence on foot.A resident in the 3400 block of Tamarind Drive called police at 1:01 p.m. March 14, to report two men approached him inquiring about the occupants of the residence and then departed. The area was checked with negative results.Police located a person at 2:01 a.m. March 16, matching the description of an offender in a recent burglary that had just occurred in another jurisdiction. The person had blood on his hand and pliers and a wrench in his pocket. Cook County Forest Preserve officers arrived at the scene and took custody of the man after a positive identification was made.A resident of the 2400 block of Burgandy Lane reported at 1:23 p.m. March 17, a man wearing a dark blue uniform, a dark blue work vest, and an unknown badge hanging from his neck, rang her doorbell. The person claimed to be from an electrical company and was allowed in the residence to check the outlets. The complainant does not believe anything was taken.A resident in the 3000 block of Bayberry Drive reported at 3:20 p.m. March 17, a man wearing a blue sweater and a black cap was looking into windows in the neighborhood.SANITATION LEAK The Illinois Department of Transportation was notified at 9:43 p.m. March 12, of a sanitation leak in the roadway at the 1400 block of Waukegan Road. LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT Illinois State Police requested help looking for two males who ran away from the scene of an accident. Northbrook police found the men at 6:38 p.m. March 13, one in the 3600 block of Woodhead Drive and the other in the 4000 block of Commercial Avenue. They were handed over to state police. UNWANTED PERSON An employee at TD Autotrade, 400 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 11:10 a.m. March 14, a man was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave the store. Officers responded and the man departed without incident.An employee at Splash Car, 500 block of Dundee Road, called police at 12:39 p.m. March 17, to report someone was causing a scene and yelling at the complainant. Officers responded and the person was told they are no longer welcome at the business. They left without further incident. DECEPTIVE PRACTICE A Russett Lane resident called police to report that between Feb. 19 and Feb. 28, someone intercepted a check he placed in the outside mailbox at the Post Office. The check amount and payee were altered. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE A resident in the 2600 block of Maple Avenue reported at 10:51 p.m. March 15, they heard a loud bang from south of his residence that sounded like a large crash or gunshot. Officers located a Diet Coke bottle wrapper and remnants of candy pieces located on Oak Avenue.Police made contact with someone at 12:14 a.m. March 16, in the 2600 block of Oak Avenue, who admitted to putting Mentos in a Diet Coke bottle and lighting a firework on Oak Avenue. The person was advised of the danger and the consequence of this action. They cleaned the area and apologized for their actions.THEFT FROM A VEHICLE A person reported at 10:36 a.m. March 16, someone had removed the catalytic converter from a work van at Glenbrook North High School, 2300 block of Shermer Road. BATTERY A person called police at 2:55 p.m. March 17, to report they were hit by another person at the Center on Deafness, 3400 block of Dundee Road. Officers responded and both parties agreed to separate for the remainder of the day.
