Press release from San Diego County Sheriff's Department: March 17, 2022 At approximately 3:49 PM, on 03/17/2022, North Coastal units responded to a report of an unknown injury traffic collision in the area of North Coast Highway 101 and Grandview Street in the city of Encinitas. Sheriff units along with Encinitas Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and attempted life saving measures on the single male motorcyclist. The male was pronounced deceased shortly after. There were no other injuries in the collision. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the cause of the collision at this time. The Sheriff's Department "STAR" team and traffic investigators from the North Coastal Sheriff Station are investigating the cause of the collision.
