TINLEY PARK, IL — A second grade cohort at Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School is in quarantine after a student tested positive for COVID-19, according to Manny Gonzales, the Archdiocese of Chicago's director of communications.
Gonzales said on Oct. 8, the school became aware of a student who had come in close contact with someone who has the coronavirus. The student later discovered they had contracted the virus, which lead to the entire second grade cohort to quarantine until Oct. 23.
Gonzales said parents were notified of the case and the last time this student was at the school was Wednesday. The school is currently being cleaned and disinfected, according to Gonzales.
Gonzales said there are no reports of additional cases at the school but if there are, families will be notified.
