One Tinley Park Donates $1,000 To PAWS Of Tinley Park

By Jon DePaolis, the Richard Free Press: TINLEY PARK, Ill. — The holiday season just got a little brighter for PAWS of Tinley Park after the One Tinley Park political group donated $1,000 to the local, no-kill animal shelter through its Citizens for One Tinley Park Political Action Committee. One Tinley Park was able to support PAWS with donations received at fundraising events throughout the year. Some of its members presented the donation to PAWS Tinley Park Board President Candy Staros on Saturday, Dec. 12. "Candy led us on a guided tour of the facility and provided us with donation needs that we could disseminate via social media," said Tinley Park Village Clerk Kristin Thirion, a One Tinley Park member who organized the donation. "In addition to monetary donations, citizens can also drop off paper towels, bleach and other necessities listed on their website at any time of the day." Thirion said she and Tinley Park Trustee Michael Glotz, also a member of the One Tinley Park group, have adopted pets from PAWS in the past and have been "continually impressed by the dedication and big hearts of all the volunteers and staff over the years." "They truly go above and beyond to care for all the animals entrusted to their care, regardless of the costs associated with medical treatment and/or placement for special-needs situations," Thirion said. The donation continues a string of charitable work the group has done over the past year. "Each one of us was very active in the community prior to seeking office, and we continually strive to increase the levels of recognition and support of charitable organizations and small businesses in Tinley Park," Thirion said. "We value them tremendously and are grateful for our generous and engaged residents."
