TINLEY PARK, IL — A Tinley Park resident was killed in a crash on the I-94 in Michigan Wednesday evening, according to Baroda-Lake Township Police. The crash involved two semi tractor-trailers and an SUV. The driver of the SUV, Edward Wilson, 48, was killed instantly, after his car was hit by two semis, and all three vehicles burst into flames, according to a news release. The semi drivers Denis Abing, 62, Lancaster, Wis., and Marcin Misiaszek, 49, Chicago, were both taken to local the hospitals, where they received treatment and were sent home. The crash occurred after Abing, heading eastbound, ran off the road, through a cable barrier and across the median where he collided with Wilson heading in the westbound direction. The semi, also driving in the westbound direction, hit the SUV, and all three vehicles were on fire. Police said one semi had an empty trailer and the other was hauling water heaters. The crash occurred at 7:21 p.m. and shut down both lanes heading east bound. On lane re-opened at 12:30 a.m. and the interstate was open fully by 2:30 a.m., according to a news release. According to police, it is still unclear as to why the semi veered off the road from eastbound to westbound, but police do not believe it to be drugs or alcohol related.
