Bassist seeking return

I'm a 34y/o bassist with over 16 years on and off experience. Have played in several garage bands and 1 band that had good potential, but life happens. I'm looking to get back to music playing as it was a great enjoyment and creative outlet. I purchased a new bass off a family member that didn't appreciate the instrument enough to continue. I do need to purchase a new amp as I am currently running off an ampeg practice amp. I just am not purchasing one without a reason to at the moment. Anyways, I describe my playstyle in the jazz, funk, punk styles. I play by feeling more than by technical knowledge. I can read and play tablatures, I can read sheet music but will just turn them into tabs to make it quicker to read. Flea was my inspiration to play bass guitar. I looked toward Victor Wooten and Louis Johnson later on for more funk playstyles. My general music taste is eclectic to say the least. I am well versed in playing in metal bands, but would like to find something in the hard rock (Breaking Benjamin) style or bluegrass I feel I would have a great deal of fun with (The Dead South). I have played well over 100 gigs. The most experience was in Fort Collins. Headlined the Aggie Theater and Hodi's Half Note. But yes, in general, I am a very easy going laid-back person.
