TINLEY PARK, IL — One Tinley Park is hosting their second annual Holiday Coat Drive to benefit the Together We Cope charity. The coat drive is running now through Dec. 20. Items accepted as donations include scarves, gloves, boots, socks and of course, coats. Donations can be dropped off at any of the following locations: Joe Rizza— 8100 W. 159th St. 7-Eleven — 171 St. and Oak Park Ave. Orland Toyota — 8505 W. 159th St. Union Bar & Grill — 17821 80th Ave. Tinley Park Trustee Mike Glotz said he and other village officials are hosting this event again because they enjoy finding ways to help others and give back to the community. "We plan on doing this every year, especially with last year's being so successful. We filled up two large-sized vans with clothes to give Together We Cope last year to distribute to all the communities that they help," Glotz said. The trustee said the coat drive has been shortened by a three-week period this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. " We are hoping the residents will be as generous as they've always been to all the different organizations," Glotz said. "We live in a great community and Tinley has always come together when others are in need. I don't foresee this being any different." Glotz said he and Village Clerk Kristin Thirion are looking for other ways to help residents during the pandemic. "We helped residents with their tax appeals for the last five years. Together, a group of us and residents volunteered to help our seniors during COVID by running errands, picking up prescriptions, groceries, trips to doctors and even helped one senior get a car donated to them," Glotz said. Tinley Park has some of the best volunteers and the best neighbors you can ask for it. We hope to continue this program for many years to come."
