ST. CHARLES, IL — St. Charles' coronavirus case total surged past 1,000 toward the end of September, largely fueled by a significant increase in cases over the previous eight weeks. As of Thursday, 1,037 city residents have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health. More than half of those cases — 548 — were recorded in August and September, the data shows.
