CAMPTON HILLS, IL — A Campton Hills coffee shop that proclaims itself to be a "mask-free environment" is under the microscope of Kane County health officials. The Kane County Heath Department recently issued a notice of non-compliance to Luau Coffee for flouting safety guidelines for businesses amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report by the Kane County Chronicle. St. Charles Bars, Restaurants Must Close At Midnight: Mayor Under guidelines issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health, patrons must wear a mask when on the premises of bars or restaurants, except while they are eating or drinking at a table or bar. New guidelines issued last week by Gov. J.B. Pritzker require patrons to wear a mask during all interactions with restaurant and bar employees. Coronavirus Cases Surge In St. Charles During August Non-compliant businesses are issued a written warning for a first offense, while a second offense could lead public health officials to force businesses to limit their capacities or close their indoor areas. Businesses that continue to not comply with public health guidelines could face a fine of up to $2,500. Michael Isaacson, the department's assistant director of community health, told the Kane County Chronicle that officials are working with Luau Coffee and encouraging it to follow public health guidelines.
