ST. CHARLES, IL — More than 300 employees at the Q Center in St. Charles are out of a job after the company made their furloughs permanent. Operators Q Center LLC notified the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity in June that it was temporarily furloughing 322 employees at the renowned conference center. A month later, the company told state officials it was laying off all 322 workers who were furloughed, along with five who hadn't previously been furloughed. 3 New Coronavirus Cases Reported At St. Charles Schools Under the Illinois Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act — better known as the WARN Act — companies must notify the state when they plan mass layoffs or closures.
