ST. CHARLES, IL — In the first 10 days of the new school year, District 303 officials have notified parents of at least nine positive coronavirus tests among students, staff and people associated with its schools. After many changes to the district's plans for reopening amid the coronavirus pandemic, elementary and middle school students returned to classrooms Aug. 19. Just two days later, officials sent the first of several letters telling parents of positive tests. Officials sent another letter Monday after learning of two more positive tests at Thompson and one at Lincoln Elementary School, as previously reported. The district also sent a letter Monday to parents of students at Davis Primary School after someone at the school tested positive for the coronavirus, according to a report by the Kane County Chronicle. One person was a staff member who was in the building after the end of the school day, while the other was in the school for a brief period, the report states. The district is deep-cleaning and disinfecting areas of the school where those who tested positive spent time, officials said.
