Description

I’m a 52-year-old bass guitarist with 35 years of experience who has retired early from a career in academia to focus on music full time. I would like to join a working band in just about any genre that plays a paying gig at least once or twice a month. I have excellent gear and a good work ethic. Most of my experience has been playing classic rock, pop-rock, and indie/alternative rock. I am also interested in playing pop, dance, disco, R&B, country—whatever gets the job done and entertains an audience. Again, I am hoping to join a working band that makes at least a little bit of money every month. I would be especially interested to form or to join a working cover band that focuses on late 70s and 80s post-punk, New Wave, Alternative, New Romantic, Brit pop, Indie, what Sirius XM calls "First Wave", etc. with some interesting classic rock selections. I'm thinking of such artists as The Smiths, R.E.M., Talking Heads, Blondie, The Church, Echo & The Bunnymen, U2, The Cure, The Clash, The Jam, Violent Femmes, Television, The Knack, The Cars, The Romantics, The Ramones, Plimsouls, Billy Idol, Siouxsie and The Banshees, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and so on. But I'll play whatever gets the job done and gets the band gigs. Since this seems to matter, I am in excellent health and great physical shape. I have years of experience being a front man so I have some stage presence. I am not interested in fronting a band, however; I just want to be the bassist. (I will front a few songs if necessary just to relieve the other singers.) I play with one other group that practices once a week but that has no gigs booked. And I have an original music project that no longer plays out and only makes records. So, I have plenty of time to learn your repertoire!
