CHARLES, IL — St. Charles is building a strong reputation for hiring veterans, with the city recently earning its third consecutive HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award from the U.S. Department of Labor. St. Charles earned a gold-level award as a medium-sized employer (51-499 employees), with nearly 10 percent of the city's workforce made up of veterans, including many who have been employed for several years, officials said in a news release.
