ST. CHARLES, IL — Two sitting St. Charles aldermen will go head-to-head over the coming months to become the city's next leader, with Mayor Ray Rogina set to step down at the end of his second term. Marureen Lewis and Lora Vitek submitted nominating petitions Monday to get their names on the ballot for the April 6 election, the Kane County Chronicle reports. Lewis represents St. Charles' Fifth Ward on the City Council, while Vitek represents the Fourth Ward. Nearly a dozen candidates have filed to run for the St. Charles City Council, with six vying to fill the seats of the two aldermen seeking the mayor's office, the Chronicle reports.
