KANE COUNTY, IL — Sheriff's deputies in Kane County will soon be equipped with body cameras while on duty, according to a report by the Aurora Beacon-News. Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain moved to acquire the equipment for 65 deputies and sergeants in response to sustained calls for police reform after George Floyd's death May 25 while being arrested by Minneapolis police, the report states. The sheriff's office will lease the body and dashboard cameras from Midwest Public Safety for the next five years for about $141,000 per year, the report states.
