ST. CHARLES, IL — An early morning fire in a resident's room at the Silverado Memory Care Community caused several thousands of dollars in damage but no injuries, according to St. Charles fire officials.
The St. Charles Fire Department was called around 3:50 a.m. Tuesday to the facility at 4058 E. Main St., but by the time they got there, a Silverado employee had put out the fire with an extinguisher, officials said.

Residents in the area of the fire were evacuated from their rooms and checked by paramedics, who found no injuries among residents, employees or firefighters. Officials estimated the fire caused $7,000 in damage to the building.
