Repairs and maintains electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks, following manuals, and using hand tools, power tools, and knowledge of electrical, power transmission, brake, and other automotive systems: Reads job order and observes and listens to truck in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures. Installs new ignition systems, aligns wheels, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts using hand tools. Overhauls gas or diesel engines, using mechanic's hand tools, welding equipment, standard charts, and hoists. Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and makes adjustments using hand tools. Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired trucks to verify conformance to specifications. Replace tires and brake drums. Provide mobile maintenance in our service truck. This job requires a combination of standing, sitting, climbing, bending, and walking and excellent visual and auditory skills to inspect trailers and communicate with the other mechanics. The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and snow/ice conditions. Basic computer skills to enter maintenance records.
